WHAT DOES THE NSSA CERTIFICATION MEAN?The NSSA® is a the only ACCREDITED Social Security Certificate program in the nation. It's the nationally recognized standard for competent and ethical Social Security planning, education and training. I earned this certification in April 2018, because I've seen the difference effective Social Security planning can make when planning for your retirement, and I wanted to help ensure we are optimizing your benefit to its fullest potential. National Social Security Advisor Certificate Program (NSSA) is a designation created by the National Social Security Association, a for-profit entity. The NSSA Certificate Program grants a Certificate to those who complete the one-day course and pass the proctored assessment. NSSA is independently accredited by The Institute in Credentialing Excellence (ICE). NSSA is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, the Social Security Administration or any governmental agency

WHAT SERVICES DO YOU AND YOUR FIRM PROVIDE?I am a financial advisor who will look at your personal life circumstances before creating a path to help you pursue your retirement goals. I look at the full picture to see how we can help optimize your Social Security, pension, and savings. I will bring in other professionals, as appropriate, to help with meeting your needs.

WHAT TYPES OF CLIENTS DO YOU WORK CLOSELY WITH?While I work with all ages, I work closely with those individuals who are approaching or are already in retirement. Most of my clients are within 5-10 years of retiring or have already retired when we started working together, although I also work with people who receive a windfall due to selling a home or business, or an inheritance and want to save those funds for retirement.

WHAT IS YOUR INVESTMENT APPROACH?I use a framework that I refer to as Red Money and Green Money. After we gather good financial data to make sure our plans will cover your needs, we'll allocate enough into Green Money to help assist your needs. I like to refer to these as your PAYchecks. Red Money are investments that carry some risk and are tied to the market but have the potential to grow. This covers the "extras" in your budget, and I like to call these your PLAYchecks.

WHAT ARE YOUR LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS?I received my Bachelor’s in Accounting and Health Administration from the University of South Dakota. I have my Series 6, 63, 65, and 7 registrations, along with state insurance licenses. I've been in the financial services industry for over 10 years with experience that included time at Allianz Life as Vice President of Sales teaching financial advisors nationwide about that company’s investments and at a brokerage firm helping financial advisors with a full array of financial products and services.

HOW DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR SERVICES AND HOW MUCH?I’m paid in a variety of ways, and the determining factor is based on the type investment you choose to make. We will discuss this in more detail and you will be entirely clear when we meet and review your choices.

HOW MUCH CONTACT DO YOU HAVE WITH YOUR CLIENTS?I pride myself on making sure your questions are answered and your needs are met whenever they come up. WHAT IS YOUR SUCCESSION PLAN?I'm only in my 30s with four young children and have absolutely no plans of retiring anytime soon. My wife and I LOVE our adopted home of Severna Park and consider ourselves Marylanders, even though we're originally from South Dakota. I am committed to being here for the long haul and am committed to my clients.
